Go big, go bold, go Stellar.
The Stellar is our largest at-home insemination kit - 9 complete self insemination cycles, all packed in one order, delivered across South Africa in 2–3 business days. It's built for people who are committed to the journey: those who've done their research, sorted their donor situation, and want to go into the process fully prepared without the stress of reordering mid-journey. If you're ready to give at-home insemination a real, sustained chance, The Stellar is where you start.
Created by women who conceived through the process themselves, every item has been handpicked with comfort, clarity, and confidence in mind.
What’s inside:
✓ 9 round-tipped syringes (gentle and easy to use)
✓ 9 sterile specimen cups for semen collection
✓ 9 disposable Softdiscs or upgrade to 1 reusable Hapū Helper (Origin) disc - The reusable Origin disc (also known as the Hapū Helper) is a body-safe, medical-grade alternative to disposable Softdiscs. Where the disposable discs are single-use, the Origin can be cleaned and reused across multiple cycles - reducing waste and long-term cost. Both options sit at the cervix to help keep the semen in contact with the cervical opening after insemination. The choice comes down to personal preference: convenience vs sustainability.
✓ 50 high-quality LH ovulation test strips to track your fertile window
✓ 10 HCG pregnancy test strips to check in when you're ready
The Stellar vs The Mezzo - how to choose - The Mezzo gives you 6 cycles. The Stellar gives you 9. If you're just starting out or want to ease in, The Mezzo is the right call. But if you've already tried a cycle or two, you're working with a more complex fertility picture, or you simply want the best cost-per-cycle value upfront, The Stellar makes sense. At R1,250 for 9 cycles (roughly R139 per attempt), it's our most economical kit per cycle and means you won't need to reorder at a critical moment in your journey. Not sure yet? You can also start with The Dinky or The Mezzo.
9 cycles for less than a single clinic consultation - A single IUI cycle at a South African fertility clinic costs R8,000–R20,000. IVF can run R60,000 or more per cycle. The Stellar gives you 9 complete at-home insemination cycles which includes every tool, strip, and disc for R1,250. That's roughly R139 per cycle. For many people, exhausting home insemination options first is not just more affordable, it's the right clinical sequence before escalating to more invasive procedures.
Who is The Stellar for? The Stellar is most popular with people who have already tried at-home insemination and feel the need to commit to a longer journey, those with a more complex fertility situation who want to be fully stocked from the start, and anyone who prefers to plan ahead rather than reorder cycle by cycle. Single women doing self insemination with a sperm donor, same-sex couples, and heterosexual couples alike all use The Stellar. It's our most comprehensive sperm insemination kit and the best per-cycle value in the range
Our largest kit - ideal for longer TTC journeys or multiple cycles

Everything you need - nothing you don’t
How to Do At-Home Insemination with The Stellar (9-Cycle Guide)
Your 9-cycle kit for clarity, comfort, and control. Whether it’s your first cycle or you’re well into your TTC journey, this guide will walk you through how to use each item in your Stellar Kit — step by step.
Track Ovulation with LH Strips
Start by identifying your fertile window using the 50 included ovulation test strips.
Here's how:
Begin testing around Day 10 of your cycle (Day 1 = first day of period).
Collect urine in a clean specimen cup.
Dip a test strip for 5–10 seconds — don’t go past the MAX line.
Lay flat and wait 3–5 minutes.
A positive result means the test line is as dark or darker than the control — ovulation is likely within 12–36 hours.
💡 Tip: Testing once or twice a day helps you catch the LH surge.
Prepare for Insemination
Once your LH test is positive, plan to inseminate that day and again the next.
You’ll need:
1 sterile specimen cup
1 round-tipped syringe
1 Softdisc (or reusable Hapū Helper/Origin disc, if selected)
How to inseminate:
Collect the semen sample into a specimen cup.
Let it sit for 15–30 minutes at room temp — this allows it to liquefy.
Use a round-tipped syringe to slowly draw up the semen (avoid bubbles).
Gently insert the syringe into the vaginal canal and press the plunger to release near the cervix.
Stay lying down with hips slightly elevated for 15–30 minutes.
Insert the Disc
To help retain the semen post-insemination, insert a Softdisc or your reusable Origin disc:
Pinch the disc in half.
Gently insert it into the vaginal canal, angling toward the tailbone.
Tuck the front rim behind the pubic bone.
The disc can be worn for several hours or overnight to reduce leakage and maximise sperm contact near the cervix.
Wait and Test
About 10–14 days post-ovulation, use one of the 10 included HCG pregnancy test strips to check for early pregnancy.
How to test:
Use first morning urine for best accuracy.
Dip the strip into a urine collection cup with your sample.
Wait 3–5 minutes.
Two lines = potential positive. One line = not yet.
💡 Repeat testing a few days later if the first test is negative and your period hasn’t arrived.
Repeat for Up to 9 Cycles
Your Stellar Kit includes enough for 9 full insemination attempts, so you can keep tracking, trying, and trusting the process — cycle after cycle.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between The Stellar and The Mezzo?
The Mezzo covers 6 insemination cycles; The Stellar covers 9. The Stellar is the better choice if you're planning a longer TTC journey, have already completed a few cycles, or want the best cost-per-cycle value upfront. At roughly R139 per cycle, it's our most economical kit. The Mezzo at R850 works out to about R141 per cycle — so the difference in total cost is relatively small for a much larger supply.
How much does The Stellar Insemination Kit cost?
The Stellar is R1,250 for 9 complete self insemination cycles. That includes 9 syringes, 9 specimen cups, 9 discs, 50 LH ovulation strips, and 10 HCG pregnancy test strips - everything you need, nothing extra to buy. It's also our best cost-per-cycle value at roughly R139 per attempt.
Can I use The Stellar for self insemination without a partner?
Absolutely. The Stellar is designed for self insemination and the step-by-step plus video instructions are written and recorded to be followed alone. Single women and same-sex couples use this kit regularly with a known or anonymous sperm donor. If you're unsure about the donor side of things, our Donor Guide covers everything you need to know.
What's the reusable Origin disc and should I choose it over disposable Softdiscs?
The Origin conceotion disc (also called the Hapū Helper) is a reusable, medical-grade disc that replaces the 9 disposable Softdiscs. It's a more sustainable option and works out cheaper over many cycles. Both sit at the cervix post-insemination to help retain the semen. If you're environmentally conscious or planning a long journey, the Origin is worth considering. If you prefer a fresh, single-use option each time, stick with the disposable Softdiscs.
Is at-home insemination legal and safe in South Africa?
Yes. At-home insemination is legal in South Africa. There are regulations around sperm donation - for example, selling sperm is prohibited, and donors are limited to 12 live births. Our Donor Legalities Guide covers the legal landscape in full. As a physical process, at-home insemination with a sterile kit carries minimal risk when the included instructions are followed.
How does at-home insemination compare to IUI or IVF in South Africa?
IUI (intrauterine insemination) and IVF (in vitro fertilisation) are clinical procedures performed at a fertility clinic and cost R8,000–R150,000+ per cycle in South Africa. At-home insemination (intracervical insemination or ICI) is done privately at home and is significantly more affordable. Most healthcare professionals recommend trying natural or at-home insemination first before escalating to clinical intervention.
