Why ordinary lubricants work against you when TTC

This is the thing most people don't find out until they go looking: most standard lubricants are actively harmful to sperm.

It comes down to two properties. Ordinary lubricants tend to have the wrong pH and the wrong osmolality (concentration) for sperm to survive in. Sperm are surprisingly fragile, and a lubricant that's too acidic or too concentrated can slow them down or damage them within minutes, even ones marketed as "natural." Water, saliva and oils have the same problem for different reasons. So the very thing people reach for to make conception more comfortable can quietly make it less likely.

Pre-Seed is engineered around that problem. It's pH-balanced to match fertile cervical fluid and isotonic, meaning its concentration matches the reproductive tract rather than drawing water out of the sperm. In practice it behaves like the fertile-quality mucus your body produces around ovulation, providing glide without being a hostile environment. That's what "sperm-friendly" actually means, and it's why it's the lubricant fertility specialists tend to name.

It matters more than people expect, because dryness is genuinely common when you're TTC. Timed intercourse around ovulation, on a schedule, under pressure, is a reliable way to reduce natural lubrication, exactly when you least want to introduce something that could compromise sperm. Pre-Seed resolves both halves of that at once.

How to use it

Pre-Seed can be used two ways: internally with an applicator (the method recommended for TTC), or externally like an ordinary lubricant.

For internal use, wash your hands, then screw an applicator onto the tube and squeeze roughly 1g to 3g into the barrel. Remove the applicator, replace the tube cap, and gently insert the applicator while sitting, lying down, or standing with one leg raised. Press the plunger slowly to release, then remove and dispose of the applicator, which is single-use. For best results, apply about 15 minutes before intercourse or insemination so it can spread naturally.

For external use, apply to the vulva or penis just as you would any lubricant. It's safe for both partners.

No rinsing is needed afterwards. Don't flush applicators; bin them.

A note on applicators

The standard Pre-Seed box contains the tube only, not applicators. If you want to use it internally, which is the method recommended for TTC, you'll need applicators. We sell them separately, and they're worth adding to your order if internal use is your plan.

Storage

Store at room temperature, away from direct heat and sunlight. Check the tube for its period-after-opening guidance.

There's a cruel little irony at the heart of trying to conceive: the ordinary lubricant you reach for to make it easier is very often working against the thing you're trying to do. Most people never find that out. They just keep trying, month after month, with something that's quietly reducing their odds.

Pre-Seed exists to remove that variable entirely. It's the most established fertility-friendly lubricant there is, developed by a reproductive physiologist, clinically tested, pH-balanced and isotonic so that it supports sperm instead of harming them. It's the one that gets named in fertility forums and clinic waiting rooms, and it's a small, cheap fix for a problem most people don't know they have.

It fits whichever way you're trying. For timed intercourse it's simply a better, safer lubricant. For at-home insemination it's a sperm-safe glide that pairs naturally with a kit. Either way it does the same quiet job: making sure that comfort and conception aren't pulling in opposite directions.

- Sperm-friendly and clinically tested, safe for sperm, eggs and embryos
- pH-balanced and isotonic to mimic fertile cervical fluid
- The fertility lubricant most specialists name, for TTC and insemination alike

Frequently asked

About Pre-Seed

What is Pre-Seed fertility lubricant?

Pre-Seed is a lubricant made specifically for couples trying to conceive. Unlike ordinary lubricants, which can harm sperm, it's pH-balanced and isotonic to mimic your natural fertile fluid, so it provides comfort without interfering with sperm on their way to the egg.

Why can't I just use a normal lubricant when trying to conceive?

Most ordinary lubricants have a pH or concentration that damages or slows sperm, sometimes within minutes, even ones labelled natural. Water, saliva and oils cause problems too. Pre-Seed is formulated to match the fertile reproductive environment, so it's one of the few lubricants that's genuinely safe to use while TTC.

How do I use Pre-Seed?

Two ways. Internally with an applicator, which is recommended for TTC: load 1 to 3g into an applicator and insert it about 15 minutes before intercourse or insemination. Or externally, applied like any ordinary lubricant. Full step-by-step instructions are above.

Does Pre-Seed come with applicators?

No, the standard box contains the tube only. If you plan to use it internally, you'll need applicators, which we sell separately. For external use, no applicator is needed.

Does Pre-Seed help you get pregnant?

It removes an obstacle rather than actively causing pregnancy. By providing a sperm-friendly environment instead of a hostile one, it supports sperm during their journey, which matters if you were previously using a lubricant that worked against them. It won't increase sperm count or overcome an underlying fertility issue.

Is Pre-Seed safe to use with an insemination kit?

Yes, and it pairs naturally with one. It's safe for use with sperm, eggs and embryos, so it can be used as a glide during at-home insemination without harming the sample.

Is Pre-Seed sperm-friendly and clinically tested?

Yes. It's clinically tested and demonstrated to be sperm-friendly, which is what sets it apart from ordinary lubricants. It was developed by a female reproductive physiologist specifically for the TTC context.

Can my partner use it too?

Yes. Applied externally it's safe for both partners and can be used on the penis or vulva, which is useful if dryness is making timed intercourse uncomfortable.

Where can I buy Pre-Seed in South Africa?

Here, delivered nationwide in 2 to 3 business days. Pre-Seed can be hard to find on local shelves, which is exactly why we stock it, so you don't have to import it or hunt around pharmacies.
