How to Use the Hapū Insemination Syringe
Whether it’s your first time trying at-home insemination or you're already familiar with the process, this step-by-step guide will help you feel confident and prepared. Our syringe was designed with comfort and control in mind.
Prepare Your Supplies
Before you begin, make sure you have everything you need in a clean, quiet space:
-
1 individually wrapped Hapū Insemination Syringe
A sterile specimen cup or collection container
Optional: a towel, pillow (for hip elevation), and a Softdisc or reusable disc to help retain semen
Wash your hands thoroughly before starting.
Collect the Semen Sample
-
Have your donor or partner ejaculate into a clean specimen cup.
Allow the sample to sit at room temperature for 15–30 minutes to liquefy — this makes it easier to draw into the syringe.
Open the Syringe
-
Carefully peel open the syringe packaging, avoiding contact with the tip.
Remove the protective tip cover just before use to maintain sterility.
Load the Syringe
-
Gently draw the semen into the syringe by pulling back the plunger.
Try to avoid bubbles — a slow, steady draw works best.
Once loaded, keep the syringe tip upright and avoid contact with surfaces.
Get Into Position
-
Lie down in a comfortable position with your hips slightly elevated (a cushion under your lower back works well).
You may want to place a towel underneath for extra comfort.
Inseminate
-
Gently insert the rounded syringe tip into the vaginal canal until it feels comfortably placed (the 13cm length is designed to reach near the cervix).
Slowly and steadily press the plunger to release the semen.
Remove the syringe gently and remain lying down for 15–30 minutes to encourage sperm movement toward the cervix.
Insert a Disc (Optional)
For added support and to minimise leakage, you can insert a Softdisc or reusable disc to help hold the semen closer to the cervix post-insemination.
Aftercare
-
Dispose of the syringe responsibly after a single use.
Relax, hydrate, and take care of yourself — you’ve done something amazing for your journey 💗
Important Notes
-
Our syringes are designed for single use only.
Always ensure sterility by keeping the syringe sealed until ready to use.
If you have any concerns or questions about insemination timing, technique, or fertility in general, consult a medical professional or fertility specialist.
