So easy to use and read! The wider strips make a big difference and it's way less fiddly than others I’ve tried. Great value too.

Timing is everything, meet OvaDetect, your new go-to for pinpointing ovulation with confidence.

OvaDetect are LH ovulation test strips, also called ovulation predictor kit strips or OPKs and are designed to detect your luteinizing hormone surge so you can pinpoint your most fertile days with confidence. Wide-strip design for easier reading, made by the same manufacturer behind Easy@Home, and priced to make daily testing genuinely affordable. Available in packs of 10, 30, or 50, shipped across South Africa in 2-3 business days.

Reliable ovulation testing without the pharmacy price tag - Pharmacy brands charge a premium for ovulation strips often R30–R50 per strip, sold in small packs. OvaDetect starts at R105 for 10 strips (R10.5 per strip) and works out even better value in the 30 or 50-strip packs. For anyone testing twice daily across a full fertile window, which is what we recommend - having a larger supply of affordable strips makes a real difference. Better to have more than you need than to run out mid-cycle.

Testing with PCOS? You may see multiple LH surges or elevated baseline LH, which can make standard OPKs harder to read. We recommend twice-daily testing with the 50-strip pack and pairing strips with a BBT thermometer to confirm ovulation. Our PCOS ovulation tracking guide covers this in detail.

Same manufacturer as Easy@Home but with one upgrade - Easy@Home is one of the most trusted ovulation strip brands in the international TTC community, and OvaDetect is produced by the same manufacturer using the same testing chemistry. The difference: OvaDetect strips are wider, making them easier to dip, easier to read, and less fiddly to handle which is particularly useful when you're testing every day. Same reliability, better experience, and available locally in South Africa without international shipping costs or delays.

Why OvaDetect?

✓ Fast, clear, easy-to-read results

Use them at home, on your schedule, and start understanding your cycle like never before.

How to Use OvaDetect Ovulation Test Strips

Your cycle, your timing — and now, your clarity. OvaDetect strips are here to help you track your ovulation window with confidence. Whether you're just getting started or fine-tuning your fertile window, this guide walks you through every step.

1

Know When to Start Testing

Start testing a few days before you expect to ovulate. If your cycle is:

  1. 28 days: Begin testing on Day 10 (with Day 1 being the first day of your period).

Not sure? Track your last cycle length, subtract 17 days from the total, and begin testing then.

For best results, test once or twice a day (late morning and/or early evening) to catch your LH surge.

2

Collect a Urine Sample

  1. Use a clean, dry cup to collect your urine.

Mid-morning to early evening urine tends to show the LH surge best — avoid first morning urine, as LH may not have built up yet.

3

Dip the Strip

  1. Remove one OvaDetect test strip from the pouch.

Dip the arrow end of the strip into your urine sample for 5–10 seconds — do not immerse past the MAX line.

Lay the strip flat on a clean, dry surface.

4

Wait & Read the Results

  1. Wait 3–5 minutes.

You’ll see two lines: a control line and a test line.

Here’s what they mean:

  1. Positive (LH Surge Detected): The test line is as dark or darker than the control line. Ovulation is likely to occur in the next 12–36 hours — this is your best time to try!

Negative: The test line is lighter than the control line or not visible. Keep testing daily until you catch the surge.

💡 Tip: Take a photo of your results each day to compare progression.

5

Continue Testing Until Your Surge

  1. Keep testing once or twice a day until you see a positive result. Once you’ve confirmed your LH surge, plan to inseminate or have intercourse within the next day or two.

Helpful Notes

  1. OvaDetect strips are single-use only.

Store in a cool, dry place.

Dispose of used strips in the bin — not the toilet!

If you’re unsure whether a result is positive, look for a darker test line or use an app to track line intensity over several days.

Frequently asked questions

Are OvaDetect strips available at Clicks or Dischem?

OvaDetect strips are available exclusively online through our store, not in retail pharmacies. This keeps costs down and means you can order in bulk without hunting across multiple shops. We ship nationwide across South Africa with 2-3 business day delivery in discreet packaging. For most people, ordering a 30 or 50-strip pack online works out faster and more affordable than buying smaller pharmacy packs cycle by cycle.

Which pack size should I choose?

The 10-strip pack is a good starting point if you have a short, regular cycle and only need to test for a few days. For most people, the 30-strip pack is the right everyday choice as it covers 2-3 cycles of once-daily testing or 1-2 cycles of twice-daily testing (which we recommend for accuracy). If you have irregular cycles, PCOS, or want to test twice daily without worrying about running out, the 50-strip pack is the best value and gives you a full cycle's peace of mind.

What is the difference between ovulation test strips and an ovulation predictor kit?

They're the same thing described differently. Ovulation test strips (also called LH strips or OPKs - ovulation predictor kits) all detect the luteinizing hormone surge that happens 12-36 hours before ovulation. "Kit" usually just means the strips come with instructions or a collection cup. OvaDetect strips include everything you need to test, no extra equipment required.

How many ovulation test strips do I need per cycle?

It depends on your cycle length and how often you test. If you test once daily for 10 days, you need 10 strips per cycle. If you test twice daily (which gives you a better chance of catching the LH surge), you need 20 strips per cycle. For most people, the 30-strip pack covers 1-2 cycles comfortably; the 50-strip pack is better for longer or irregular cycles.

Where can I buy ovulation test strips in South Africa?

OvaDetect LH ovulation strips are available online through our store and ship nationwide across South Africa in 2-3 business days. They're not stocked in retail pharmacies, which keeps the price lower than pharmacy brands.

How do I read an ovulation test strip result?

You're looking for two lines: a control line and a test line. A positive result (LH surge detected) means the test line is as dark or darker than the control line. A faint test line is negative, keep testing. The surge typically lasts 12-48 hours, and ovulation usually follows within 12-36 hours of the surge peak.

Can I use OvaDetect strips if I have PCOS?

Yes, but PCOS can cause elevated baseline LH or multiple partial surges, which makes strips harder to interpret on their own. We recommend testing twice daily with a 50-strip pack and pairing your strips with a BBT thermometer to confirm when ovulation actually occurs. Our PCOS ovulation tracking guide in the Learning Center walks through this in detail.

What time of day should I test for ovulation?

Mid-morning to early evening gives the most reliable results for LH strips. Avoid first morning urine as LH is produced by the brain and takes a few hours to show up in urine, so testing too early in the morning can give a false negative. For best accuracy, test at the same time each day and reduce fluid intake for 1-2 hours before testing.
